ROACH
EXTERMINATOR

Central Texas cockroach control that goes beyond surface sprays. We identify the species, treat harborage areas with professional baits and insect growth regulators, and seal the entry points so roaches don't keep coming back.

ROACHES IN CENTRAL TEXAS

Not all cockroaches are the same problem. The species determines where they live, how they breed, and which treatment approach works — a one-size spray won't cut it.

GERMAN COCKROACH

Indoor Pest — Most Difficult

The German cockroach is the most problematic species in Central Texas homes and businesses. It lives almost exclusively indoors, thriving in kitchens and bathrooms where moisture and food are plentiful. Females carry egg cases until hatching — up to 40 eggs per case — producing multiple generations per year. They spread rapidly through plumbing walls and shared utility chases. If you have German roaches, a targeted bait and IGR program is essential; broad sprays scatter them and make elimination harder.

AMERICAN COCKROACH

Sewer & Perimeter Invader

The largest common cockroach species in Texas, the American cockroach (also called a palmetto bug or water bug) primarily lives in sewers, storm drains, and moist outdoor areas. It enters homes through floor drains, gaps around pipes, and crawlspace vents — especially during hot, dry periods when it seeks moisture. While dramatic in size, American cockroach infestations are usually easier to control than German roach infestations once entry points are sealed and outdoor harborage is treated.

ORIENTAL COCKROACH

Basement & Crawlspace Pest

Oriental cockroaches prefer cool, damp, dark environments: crawlspaces, basement drains, utility vaults, and areas under sinks with plumbing leaks. They move slowly compared to other species and are often found in large numbers in enclosed, humid spaces. They carry bacteria and emit a strong, musty odor. Oriental roach infestations almost always point to a moisture problem that needs to be corrected alongside the pest treatment.

SMOKYBROWN COCKROACH

Outdoor to Indoor Migrant

Smokybrown cockroaches are a fixture in Central Texas — they breed in tree holes, mulch beds, wood piles, and leaf litter around homes. They are strong fliers and are attracted to lights, which draws them toward structures at night. They enter through gaps under doors, around utility penetrations, and through vents. Controlling smokybrown roaches requires treating outdoor harborage areas alongside any interior activity, and improving exterior lighting and entry-point seals.

WHY ROACHES ARE SO HARD TO ELIMINATE

Roaches have survived 300 million years of evolution. Their biology works against every half-measure. Understanding why they persist explains why professional cockroach control services produce results that store-bought products rarely do.

Biology

RAPID REPRODUCTION

A single German cockroach female can produce over 300 offspring in her lifetime — and her daughters start breeding within weeks. A small infestation becomes a large one faster than most homeowners realize. Killing visible roaches with sprays barely dents the population hiding in wall voids, under appliances, and inside cabinets. You need to stop the reproductive cycle with insect growth regulators, not just eliminate adults.

★ KEY FACT
The Warning Sign

ONE MEANS MANY MORE

Cockroaches are nocturnal and intensely avoid light and human activity. If you're seeing roaches during the day, the harborage areas are so overcrowded that individuals are being pushed out into the open. A single daytime sighting almost always indicates an established infestation with dozens or hundreds hiding nearby. Don't wait — populations compound quickly and become significantly harder and more expensive to eliminate the longer they grow.

Resilience

RESISTANCE & AVOIDANCE

German cockroaches have developed resistance to many common over-the-counter insecticides. They also exhibit "bait aversion" — populations that have been exposed to glucose-based baits learn to avoid them. Roaches can survive without food for a month and without water for two weeks. Effective elimination requires rotating chemistry, using professional-grade formulations, and applying treatment precisely where roaches actually spend time — not just on surfaces they occasionally cross.

OUR COCKROACH CONTROL PROCESS

Effective roach pest control near you requires more than a spray can. Our process targets every stage of the cockroach life cycle and every location they use — from harborage to entry points.

1

THOROUGH INSPECTION

We inspect every harborage area — under and behind appliances, inside cabinet hinges and door seals, around plumbing penetrations, in electrical voids, crawlspaces, and along the exterior perimeter. We identify the species, estimate population size, and map the hotspots before any product is applied. Species identification changes the entire treatment approach.

2

PROFESSIONAL BAITING

We apply professional-grade gel and granular baits directly into harborage areas — where roaches actually live, not just on surfaces they walk across. Baits are slow-acting by design: a roach that feeds returns to the harboring group and passes the active ingredient to others through contact and frass. This cascade effect reaches individuals that never contact treated surfaces directly.

3

CRACK & CREVICE TREATMENT

Residual insecticide is applied with precision into wall voids, along pipe chases, inside cabinet kick plates, and in other void spaces where roaches harbor and travel. Crack and crevice application puts chemistry exactly where roaches live, maximizing exposure while minimizing product use in open areas.

4

INSECT GROWTH REGULATORS (IGR)

IGRs are the key to breaking the reproductive cycle. They mimic juvenile hormones, preventing nymphs from maturing into breeding adults and rendering adult females unable to produce viable eggs. IGRs don't kill roaches quickly — they stop the population from replacing itself. Combined with baiting and residual treatment, IGRs are what separate a temporary knockdown from a lasting elimination.

5

EXCLUSION — SEALING ENTRY POINTS

For American, smokybrown, and Oriental cockroaches that enter from outdoors, sealing entry points is critical to lasting results. We identify and seal gaps around plumbing, drains, utility penetrations, and foundation vents using appropriate materials. Without exclusion, new cockroaches migrate in from outdoor populations regardless of how effective the interior treatment was.

6

FOLLOW-UP & MONITORING

Cockroach populations don't collapse overnight. We schedule follow-up visits to monitor activity, replenish bait placements, and confirm the IGR program is working. Monitoring sticky traps tell us where remaining activity is concentrated so follow-up treatments are targeted, not guesswork.

COCKROACH PREVENTION TIPS

After we eliminate your infestation, these measures significantly reduce the chance of a recurrence. Most cockroach reinfestation is preventable with the right habits.

SEAL ENTRY POINTS

Caulk gaps around plumbing pipes under sinks, behind toilets, and where utilities enter through walls. Install drain covers in floor drains and ensure crawlspace vents have intact screens. American and smokybrown cockroaches enter almost exclusively through unsealed gaps — cutting off access is as effective as any treatment.

FIX MOISTURE ISSUES

Cockroaches need water to survive. Fix leaking pipes, dripping faucets, and condensation problems under sinks immediately. Oriental and German cockroaches cluster near moisture sources. Run an exhaust fan during and after showers. Check for slow drains and standing water around air conditioner drip pans — both are common roach attractants.

ELIMINATE FOOD DEBRIS

Store dry goods in sealed hard-sided containers. Clean grease from stovetop burners and behind the range regularly — German cockroaches survive on cooking grease residue alone. Wipe down counters and sweep under appliances frequently. Don't leave dirty dishes in the sink overnight. Even small crumb accumulations sustain large populations.

MANAGE TRASH PROPERLY

Use trash cans with tight-fitting lids indoors and outdoors. Take kitchen trash out regularly — don't let bags sit overnight in warm months. Keep outdoor garbage cans away from the structure and off the ground if possible. Decomposing organic material in and around trash cans is a major attractant for American and smokybrown cockroaches.

REDUCE OUTDOOR HARBORAGE

Smokybrown cockroaches breed in mulch, wood piles, leaf litter, and tree holes. Keep mulch beds thin near the foundation, move wood piles away from the structure, and clear leaf buildup from gutters and window wells. Reduce dense ground cover vegetation within a few feet of the house perimeter.

INSPECT INCOMING ITEMS

German cockroaches spread primarily by hitchhiking in grocery bags, cardboard boxes, secondhand appliances, and used furniture. Inspect secondhand items carefully before bringing them inside. Unpack groceries and break down cardboard boxes in the garage or outside rather than in the kitchen. Egg cases on cardboard are how many infestations begin.
